Emily Margaret Yeung was born on February 24th, 2010 at 3:20AM. After 6 hours of labor and without the use of an epidural again, Jane delivered our healthy and happy 7lb 14oz, 21 inch princess to be.
It’s been a few days since the birth and both Jane and Emily are doing wonderful now. We’re finally trying to get things back in order and even Eva started growing into her big sister role. Although it’s only been a few days since the delivery, I have learned a few new things, remembered somethings forgotten, and come to a few new realizations though.
Here’s a short and quick summary:
- Jane is much tougher than me.
- Jane is much much tougher than me.
- I might have married Rambo.
- Giving birth is very painful.
- Seeing your child for the first time never gets old.
- You quickly forget how much work raising a child is.
- Newborns need to be burped.
- Newborns poop a bajillion times a day.
- Newborns smell a lot better than 2 year olds.
- You don’t realize how old/big your other kids are until you compare them to your newborn.
- Splitting your time between two kids is not as trivial as you may think.
- Writing these lists at 1 am next to a crying newborn is very difficult.
…before I lose you all in this wall of text, here’s the photos. Apologies for the sub par quality on some of the photos. The nursing staff doesn’t take too kindly to strobing away in the rooms.
1. For those of you who have a weak heart, you might want to skip this one. It’s the world’s first photo of baby Emily.
